This itinerary is perfect if you only have 2 or 3 days to hit the road. Only 2,5h drive from Kortrijk and you arrive in Eifel National Park, a low mountain range in western Germany, eastern Belgium and northern Luxembourg. The park promises dense forests, crystal clear lakes, rolling hills, endless hiking trails and picturesque historic towns. In short, it has something for everyone. Eifel is known for it´s beautifull hike routes, the castle of Eltz, the vulcano route, the Dreimuhlen waterfall and the old and charming city Verken Monschou.
An untamed stretch of wilderness that has been shaped by volcanic activity over the centuries.
As it is not allowed to wild camp in a national park, we suggest you to go to a camping. There are several camping places in the area of the national park. For less than 20 euro you can have an overnight stay in the area of Eifel. Campingplatz Jansen is a quiet camping ground which is surrounded with a small river that gives you the nature feeling that we all are searching for. Only 10 minutes from the camp place you can start several hikes.

The ¨ Hoge Kempen¨
The nice thing about going on a roadtrip is that you don´t need to plan everything in advance or know exactly where to go before you leave. You can never make a bad choice of where to go, every place brings something new. Be curious and be surprised by the unexpected. If you want to stay on the same place, you should do that. If you want to see a different area, you can always pack you things, fold-down your Toptent & go. Another interesting area not that far from Eifel is national park Hoge Kempen which has the most beautiful panorama from the flanders. Only 1,5h to drive from Eifel to Hoge Kempen which means crossing boaders! You see, you don´t need to go far to feel the holiday vibe and be in a different country. 😜
