South Italy

Sorrento ⭐️⭐️⭐️

⛺️ Agricampegio Oasi Verde

Very cosy camping between the lemon trees 🍋 stayed here for 3 nights as this was the perfect location to visit the surrounding area’s. Centralizing in Sorrento gives you the opportunity to discover the surrounding cities.

🛵 Rent a scooter! Discovering the area with a scooter is definitly the best option as roads are very small & there can be alot of traffic. With a scooter you can go anywhere in short time. We drove up to Pompei ourselves, note this takes several hours and runs a long section on a highway – ideally you stop in Pompei when you leave the Sorrento area and can do this as a stop on your roadtrip. You pay around 20 euros a day to rent a scooter (ask your camping if they provide some scooter, they will definitely help you)

👩‍🍳 Best local restaurant in Sorrento @ bar 2000. Super cosy restaurant in the middle of the city center between small italian shopping streets. Live band every night – the atmosphere is amazing & the food is delicious and cheap ! 🎶

Positano ⭐️⭐️⭐️

🥐 Brunch spot : @casaebottegapositano – perfect adress for food & interior lovers. 🫶

🌊 Definitely go for a swim in Positano, the view from the water on the mountains is beautifull.

🕵️‍♀️ Go to Furore Ane for a swim – this is a bridge with a hidden beach – absolutely worth the visit! In general there are many (hidden) beaches in the area – just pull over whenever and wherever you are – there is no such thing as disappointing views in this beautiful region.

@ Li Gali Bar Bistro is the perfect spot to end your day – drink a cocktail while watching the sunset on the mountains 🌅

Amalfi & Capri ⭐️

☕️ Honestly, a bit overrated & very touristic. Liked Sorrento more as it is more authentic and cosy. But we found an italian coffee bar where I had the best Frapuccino ever.

Capri is perfect for a 1-day trip to discover the island.

⛴️ We took the ferry from Sorrento and chose to stay on the island for 5 hours (11 am – 17 pm). You can choose in the port how long you want to stay there but you need to make the decision in advance to buy a ferry ticket. Five hours was enough for us as we walked several KM to discover the island and it´s different view points. We had a light lunch & cocktail in the Gin Mare bar – which was very good. You can definitely stay longer and visit the complete island but that wasn´t neccessary for us. When we arrived at the port again we headed to a local pizzeria and ordered ourself a take -away pizza & some local Italian snacks. Definitely try a local pizzeria it´s a great experience!  🍕

Pompei ⭐️⭐️

🌋 Pompei is known for it´s mount Vesuvius in the gulf of Napels. It is possible to climb the active volcano. We really over-estimated this hike as we completed it in 25 min going up – 15 min going down (while running) 🤪 but definitely worth the visit to have a view on the complete area from above. 🌁 On top you can also order a drink (soft drinks or alcohol). We went up in the last time slot around 5 PM, as all tickets during the day were sold out. We loved the view and even had a little sunset from above. The perfect setting to end another day in beautifull Italy with a aperol 🤪. Best to book your entry ticket in advance as this is almost every day (in high season) sold out.

Polignano a mare ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Loved the small streets in the old city center. The only place in Italy where the shops are sooo local & cute 🌺

🍴Aquamarea – top restaurant with stunning view on the rocks.

⛱️ A very popular thing to do in the area of Puglia is to go to a Lido. It’s a private area with beach beds. Highly recommended Lido is Bambu Beach 🥹 the location, vibe, interior & food is amazing 👙☀️
🍤 Pescheria Da Pasqualino – amazing local place to taste some raw fish 👌

Alberobello ⭐️⭐️⭐️

🗼Trulli’s are little houses that you can see everywhere, these are build by the farmers that did all the argiculture in the area.

🍴 Restaurant Vida – #1 absolute favorite pizza Bianca with walnuts and bacon 😋 For those who don´t know what Pizza Bianca is ( this was also new for me) it is a pizza with mozzarella, ricotta and pecorino romano cheese.

Matera ⭐️⭐️

🏛️Beautifull old city with a very characteristic architecture. The scenery of all the houses is like an optical illusion. You can visit this place in one day and stroll around the authentic city.
